J’adore French conceptual artist Sophie Calle. Paul Auster based a character, Maria, on Calle in the novel Leviathan. The fictional heroine indulges in what she calls “The Chromatic Diet”, eating food of only one color on a given day.
For a week, 8–14 December 1997, Calle enacted and photographed the process in real life in order to “become” Maria. I believe red Tuesday is my favorite: tomatoes, steak tartare, pomegranates, and roasted red pepper with a glass of Lalande de Pomerol.
